Meditating Buddha Glows-in-DarkThis serene, Blue ShiGa (Sakyamuni) Buddha's first incarnation was as Gautama, born in 624 BC. Hi is believed to have had 550 incarnations thereafter. He attained divine knowledge or "Bodhi" after six years of fasting and meditation. In this figure he is seated in the Half Lotus position, which is used for ecstatic concentration, on a double Lotus pedestal. The Lotus symbolized purity, perfection and divine birth. His hands are held in the mudra (hand gesture) of meditation, and he holds a lotus. The auspicious swastika on the breast represents the Buddha's heart, and is believed to contain within it the whole mind of Buddha.
